8 ways to get better results from your acne treatment

Following are 8 very important tips for getting better results from your acne treatment. These tips are complimentary to any method of treatment, whether it is a conventional one (they are even recommended by the americal academy of dermatoogy) or whether it is a wholistic one. Following them carefully ensures  quicker results.

1.    Never pop, squeeze or pick acne. By popping the acne pimples you can make acne worse, and make it last longer. It can also lead to scarring, which can be permanent.

2.    Don’t use abrasive soaps, skin scrubs, toners, astringents or masks. These will cause irritation to the skin, and such skin in much more likely to worsen the acne symptoms.

3.    Do not scrub your skin. Instead of washing away the oil, which seems like a good idea, scrubbing the skin will actually increase irritation, and make your skin more prone to worsening the acne.

4.    Limit washing to twice a day and use lukewarm (not hot and not cold) water.

5.    Use oil free hair and skin care products, since oil will clog the pores of your skin and worsen your acne. When buying these products, look for the terms “nonacnegenic” or “noncomedogenic”. This means that they are optimal for treating acne skin.

6.    Continue your treatment after your skin has cleared. The first time your face will clear can be prior to actually finishing the treatment, so it is important to continue for a month or so, or acne may reappear.

7.    Cleanse your skin after sweating. Sweating can worsen your acne, so if you sweat, cleanse your skin as quickly as possible afterwards. Do not scrub the skin.

8.    Give your treatment enough time to work. It is easy to be discouraged at first, but you must understand that clearing acne takes time. If you do not see results within the first couple of weeks, it may be completely normal. Give the treatment some time.
