Antibiotics and Acne

To understand the many problems associated with traditional medicine, we can give the example of entibiotics. Antibiotics are taken in orderto kill bacteria. When you have acne, your pores get clogged thusmaking a perfect habitat for bacteria to grow. These bacteria thencreate inflammation, redness, and infections, which are most of thesymptoms associated with acne.

Traditional medicine tells us to take antibiotics, topically (on theskin) or orally, in order to kill these bacteria. The way antibioticswork is, they prevent bacteria from building the membranes that protectthem, so when antibiotics are in the body, bacteria die (the newgenerations cannot create the cell walls needed to exist, so they arenever formed). Sounds good, right?

There are three main problems with this. First of all, antibiotics killnot only the acne causing bacteria, but the good bacteria also. Theseare helping in many processes in our body, such as digestion, but mostimportantly, they prevent “bad” bacteria to enter in the places wherethey live. So by killing the good bacteria, once you stop theantibiotics, bad bacteria can enter these places, and cause manyproblems, not even connected to acne!

The second main problem is that using antibiotics will weaken theresponse of the body’s natural immune system. So once again, once theantibiotics are stopped, the same bacteria can cause trouble moreeasily. Just like drinking a cup of coffee can give you energy, but ifyou drink a cup of coffee every day, not only does it not give youenergy (the body learns how to remove the caffeine from your system, since it essentially is a poison), but you cannot have the same energylevels if you do not drink coffee in the morning. You have becomeaddicted. The same can happen with antibiotics.

The third problem is that there are some bacteria that are naturallyresistant to antibiotics. When the immune system is weak, it cannotkill them, and so when the antibiotics are stopped, the same bacteriaalready in the body can cause the same problem, and this timeantibiotics will not work against them.

The solution is simple – eliminate the causes of acne, and bacteriawill not be able to proliferate, without even the need to useantibiotics, and to damage the body’s immune system.
